Driving Test in Delhi: Process for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers

The driving license test in Delhi is conducted by the RTO and follows the guidelines in the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. If you want to take the test, you can do it with your own vehicle or choose a vehicle provided by a motor driving school.

Test for Two-wheeler & Three-wheeler:

  1. Candidates will be tested on their ability to navigate within specific boundaries.
  2. Performing a figure-8 pattern is the most important part of this test. You will navigate the 8-shaped space without stopping or stalling at any point. It is a curved road, so you are proving your ability to navigate in and out of tough spots through proper acceleration, brakes and steering.
  3. Further, you should prove your skills on public roads so that the RTO can confirm that you know the road rules and can handle being amongst other vehicles.

Test for Four-wheeler:

  1. A test track will be provided through which the candidate will be tested for smooth driving. They should avoid hitting any columns.
  2. Their performance will be evaluated on a public road.

If a candidate does not pass the performance test for any of the vehicles, they can try again after waiting seven days. They will, however, have to pay a small fee.
